W Construction was engaged by the Principals of Days Inn to demolish & rebuild their indoor pool & spa facility that had prematurely failed. This involved precise planning to ensure ongoing hotel operations were minimally impacted. Building Science was at the forefront of this project given the nature of the failures and the challenges of dealing with an extremely humid environment. The project involved carefully demolishing the structure to avoid further impact the rest of the hotel, followed by foundation works, framing, waterproofing, flat roof system with tapered insulation & heat trace water management, exterior cladding, concrete flatwork inside and out, and complete finishing of the interior space. Special mechanical systems were installed to manage and mitigate the humidity while maintaining guest comfort, aided by triple glazed windows and industry specific air sealing products. Specialized pool & deck finishing with non-slip properties conforming to municipal safety regulations along with other typical life safety requirements.
